Bamboo Architecture and BIM

Modelling bamboo structure with architectural BIM (Building Information Modeling, as evolved from CAD/CAM) software such as ArchiCAD is beneficial both for study as well as for an actual design process. Definitely, it helps to understand the geometry of a complex structural system while coping with necessary technical drawing requirements.

"Bamboo Pole" is a GDL Object specially handwritten for bamboo structural design and architecture that will run on ArchiCAD 13 or above. It's here for you to the pole to go to download site. Enjoy!

The Bridge is Technically Complete

Dear Readers,

Our bamboo bridge in Matina community is technically completed now, after grouting some joints with cement mortar. We are on the finishing part now and looking forward some launching ceremony... PARTY! ;o)

Desain Jembatan Bambu

Empat bulan sudah berlalu. Sekian studi terlampaui. Sekian masukan dari teman terkumpul.

Diantara update yang perlu disampaikan adalah bentang jembatan bambu yang 23 meter (bukan 24 meter seperti perkiraan semua). Bambu yang digunakan adalah salah satu spesies yang paling kuat: Dendrocalamus asper yang disebut apos di Mindanao, petung di Indonesia, atau pai-tong di Thailand.

diterapkan di setiap trafe. Tidak ada angkur diantara bambu dengan pondasi beton tetapi besi lantai cor beton akan disambung dengan besi dinding pondasi. Cor lantai beton juga akan diinterupsi oleh celah gempa.

Desain seringan mungkin sebagai kompensasi karena tidak punya bahan dan situasi terbaik untuk membangun jembatan yang sangat kuat. Di Filipina, untuk keperluan konstruksi tungkan (Bambusa blumeana, bambu ori) lebih favorit dibandingkan Botong (Dendrocalamus latiflorus). Mungkin, akhirnya tetap harus dapat tungkan khusus untuk kolom-kolom yang banyak baut.

Foundation Work

Here is information of a pair of foundations for the 23 meter span Matina foot bridge. The site features uneven banks with 3 meters difference that will be compensated with a ramp.

The bank on the left is 3 (three) meter higher than the right
